This is near Hosur and Denkanikottai, Beautiful location where you can see a reservoir and a dam surrounded by small hills on all sides. Nothing much other than this. During the months of September/October/November I guess the water level may be more and you might get to see very few birds. If you love the nature and want to see and spend sometime then this is the place. If you are driving from Bangalore then you need approx 4 to 5 hours to visit and come back.
I saw around four different species of birds when I went in End January. Don't expect many varieties of birds here. On the way back before you reach Denkanikottai, you can see sunset which is beautiful.

Route options
If you want to go via Bannerghatta Road, then go via Jigani, Anekkal, Denkanikottai and Panchapalli. After reaching Denkanikottai ask the locals for directions.
Incase if you are planning to go via Hosur, you have three different options and all three roads are in good condition. I suggest go via Rayakottai road, Haleseebam and Ullati.
- Via Denkanikottai
- Via Rayakottai road, Haleseebam, Ullati
- Via Kelamangalam
Food options
In Denkanikottai you will see Aavin milk centre for coffee / tea. Many shops are there to grab few bananas, snacks and fruits if you like. I suggest you carry or parcel food from bangalore and then visit as there are no options here.
Cattle Egret Fight
We were lucky to catch the moments of two cattle egrets fighting. Unfortunately I did not have the extra zoom in my Nikon lens, I had to catch with my 300mm and this was happening little far. But check the video below.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback Vihaan.
ReplyDeleteVery nice post on Panchapalli Dam, near Hosur. I would like to add that Hosur is a gateway to Karnataka from Tamil Nadu and there are many places to visit in Hosur. It is an attractive place to visit.
