Kukke Subramanya Temple

Refer Wiki for more on temple: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kukke_Subramanya_Temple

Bangalore to Kukke Subramanya is 280+ Kms. This is located in the beautiful western ghats. There is a beautiful river as well in this place. But now becoming dirty with plastics. Please carry your own water bottles to reduce number of of plastic bottle usage. There are two main restaurants where you can get food and it is basic. Don't have high expectations.

We stayed at Sri Krishna Residency which is just opposite to Abhaya Ganapathy temple. This has good parking facilities. Refer my review in Tripadvisor : Sri Krishna Residency. Also refer to Tripadvisor for other options as well.

Bisle Ghat

From Kukke temple ask for directions for this. This is a scenic place and the view point is fantastic. But please note, drive only if you have a Jeep or 4WD/AWD (four wheel drive or all wheel drive) vehicles as there is no road and it is full of potholes. See the photos below which captures the beauty of this place. Many go for trekking here as well. Refer Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisle

Dharmastala

From Kukke this is about 53+ Kms. This is famous for the Annadana (free food) for all people throughout the day i.e. anytime of the day. There is also a Monolith Gomateshwara or Bahupali statue on the hill which is very closeby. You can plan to visit both Manjunatha temple and this Bahupali statue.

This Bahupali statue is very similar to Shravanabelagola. Refer my blog Shravanabelagola

Dharmastala

Udupi Shri Krishna Temple

From Dharmastala, Udupi is about 100+ kms. It is a small town. There are many stay options here. But we stayed in Hotel Century Executive. Refer my review in tripadvisor Hotel Century Executive

Kollur Mookambiga Temple

From Udupi, Kollur Mookambiga temple is about 73+ Kms. You can keep Udupi as a base and stay there and visit this. On the way you can see many Cashew tree plantations. If it is a season, you can try to eat the fruits which are so tasty. But for some people this fruit might cause throat pain and itching. I dont have any pictures of this temple.

  1. Very informational blog post. Udupi is an overwhelmingly charming tourist destination richly steeped in mythology. Check out these popular hotels in Udupi known for their rich cuisine and facilities.
