Beautiful small hill very close to Thuraiyur near Trichy. You can drive up the hill or take the steps. There are close to 1500+ steps. On the main road, where you see the Arch and the entrance, there is a Govindaraja Perumal Temple. Both these temples are very ancient and believed to be built by King Karigal Cholan. Year not known, but believed to be built around 15th century. There is also the famous Karupanna Swamy temple and ancient Ilanda Tree ("Indian Jujube"). This is the very famous temple in the region "Prasanna Venkachalapathi Temple". This temple is also called "South Tirupathi" (Then Tirupathi). Whoever not able to visit Tirupathi due to any reasons, can visit this temple and worship the lord. It is believed that they get all blessings from Lord. There are beautiful sculptures of Ten Avatar of Lord Vishnu carved on pillars which is really beautiful. There is also a Musical Pillar (or) Sapthaswaram Pillar which produces the svaras SA RI GA MA PA DA NI SA. There are too many monkeys around, so you need to be extra careful. Once you park your car, they come and sit on top the car looking for something to eat. If you need to carry any Pooja items, carry them in backpack. Just carry a stick with you, they don't come near. You don't need to scare them, carrying a stick is good enough. At Govindaraja Perumal Temple, Lord Ranganatha swamy on sleeping pose is seen. After visiting this, go inside the Arch. There are small temples on both the road sides for Ramanuja Acharya, Garudazhvar, Panchamuga Anjaneya. Panchamuga Anjaneya statue is relatively very huge in size. During the month of (Tamil Months)- Purattassi and Margazhi there will be huge crowd. During this Puratasi month on the full moon day, devotees do Girivalam - Walking around this hill temple. Puratasi is from September 15 to Oct 15 and Margazhi month is from Dec 15th to Jan 15th.
When you visit Thuraiyur which is very close to Trichy, you can also visit another famous Hill station named "Kolli Malai" (or) Kolli Hills. We are yet to visit this and will add the detailed blog once we visit. Kolli Hills is famous for the herbs and medicinal plants.
Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathy Temple, Thuraiyur
There are two other hill temples in this area which are close by. I have covered them all in separate blogs.
Both the temples are open only on Saturdays. And you need to go on steps(no driveway). It is medium to hard level. Thalamalai don't have any steps you need to trek on mud path. Also read the main blog on "Trichy or Tiruchirappalli and Nearby Places"

Interesting facts first: Vrindavan is the city of temples with 5000 temples for Lord Krishna and Radha. The underground prison where Lord Krishna is born is now a temple. The fire in temple kitchen at Sri Radha Raman temple started 435 years ago i.e. 15th century and still not put off. This is one place where Monkeys will steal your spectacles, purses or cameras for 100% sure to get food from you in exchange. Please don't try wearing it anywhere in this place, and I was the victim as well. Before I start, I am sure when you read about Mathura and Vrindavan you will definitely like to hear about these discourses.
Again, this Youtube channel is also a must visit - "108 Divya Desams by Swamy Dushyanth Sridhar" . Again visit his channel for lots and lots of discourses in multiple languages including Tamil, Kannada, English. They are so divine and so informative, you will be lost in it.
Paramapada Vasal at Ranganatha swamy (Rangji) temple
Brindavanam, Vrindavan and Brindavan are different names. The word Vrinda means sacred Tulsi (basil) plant. Vana means forest. This is the place where Lord Krishna spent most of his childhood days. Demon King Kamsa prisoned his sister Devaki after he come to know one of Devaki's son would kill him. The prison is now the Keshava Deva temple. After Krishna is born, his father Vasudeva secretly carried him across the Yamuna river and exchanged him. This is one of the most visited place in India along with Mathura. The day when Lord Krishna is born is celebrated as Janmashtami. This place will be heavily crowded those festival days. Also the Bramotsava festival is very famous at Ranganatha swamy temple here and attracts heavy crowd. There are six main places that are to be covered, they are close to each other. The below map from Google will give an idea of how these places are located....

Planning Tips
To see all the places listed in this blog, both in Haridwar and Rishikesh, you need minimum of 3 nights and 4 days. But many prefer to stay longer to relax, meditate, learn Yoga, participate in Aarthis daily, Volunteer at Ashrams, take a dip in Ganga daily.....etc.
Dehradun Airport is very close to both these places i.e. less than 25Kms, but if in case you don't get tickets you can hire a taxi from Delhi and reach here. It takes about 5.5 hours and 225 Kms.
Please don't get carried over by the local priests or pujari for performing Aarthi or for any special rituals at river Ganga. They demand very high money.
Be careful with your belongings in the crowd. Hold your kids tight and take care of them.
Be careful with street food. Anytime when you are sick and in need of medicines, Try the Google search for medical shops and I am sure it will lead you to the right shop for medicines. Hotel staff also will be able to help/guide.
For the good fresh food, try the canteen inside any Ashram premises.
